The Christenson Story
Relationships contribute to success of Christenson Cleaning and Restoration
Businesses are built on relationships. Sometimes, that means family relationships.
Eric and his late wife, Cindy, began Christenson Cleaning and Restoration in 1983. Initially, the couple cleaned businesses on weekends to supplement their family’s income, but when they signed a large bank as a client, they saw the potential to serve businesses’ cleaning needs full time. Eric and Cindy gained clients by referral alone, and as word of their quality work spread, so did their services.
By 2003, the Christenson’s began offering carpet cleaning to the businesses where they already provided top-notch janitorial services. Through hard work and continuing education, they amassed a wealth of knowledge on carpeting and the best tools and techniques for cleaning it. This included purchasing a “truck mount,” a powerful piece of carpet-cleaning equipment mounted in a van. They also expanded their services to residential clients.

Charlie purchases company from Eric and Cindy becoming the second generation owner with 15 employees.
Janitor Inc rents first commercial space in Hastings
Christenson adds fire, water, and mold services to its existing services of carpet cleaning and janitorial work
Becomes an IICRC certified firm
Christenson expands its footprint by moving into a larger space in Hastings
Janitor Inc. and Christenson Carpet Cleaning are consolodated and rebranded into Christenson Cleaning & Restoration.
Christenson becomes a 24/7 operation
Christenson acquires Imperial Office Cleaners of Omaha
First Omaha office is opened
Christenson has over 85 employees servicing Nebraska and Iowa with the goal of offering premier services at a fair price.
Charlie’s parents gave him his own janitorial account to run when he was just 16. After succeeding at that, he began managing crews and helping with administration. While a student at Central Community College, Charlie began helping more with running the business while his mother was battling cancer. After she passed away, he took over the whole operation at age 23.
Under Charlie’s leadership, the business grew to employ 85 workers, occupy a 4,000 ft commercial space, and open a new office in
Omaha in June of 2022. Charlie has brought a corporate structure to
the family business, while proudly upholding Eric and Cindy’s legacy
of quality and trust.
